AelisLaurel and I started talking a bit over a month ago about collaborating on a photoset featuring her jewelry. The idea was I'd raise moths and use them as a counterpoint in the pictures to complement the jewelry, and so I ordered two crecopia moth cocoons (because I was convinced I'd end up killing at least one inadvertantly, lol!) and received 'em 2 weeks ago, plus an extra cocoon they threw in for free. So I stuck the cocoons in a box, dropped water on them twice a week, and hoped I was doing everything right. Well, one of them emerged tonight:

It's so exciting!

It is a soft, huge, almost cuddly bugger that seems to have no fear of humans. I hope one of the other two cocoons ends up being female (I think this one is male because of the big antennae), so they can breed and I can raise more moths next year. My version of a pet, lol. I love moths.
Either way, it's gonna be super fun to shoot this unusual set.
Otherwise, gyah. I feel like I'm kinda falling into a rut with my work. Thus, a self-assigned photography homework and to-do list:
-Clean out closet-studio out and either paint it or find studiopaper to hang.
-*Saturated* colors: forest/lime, green aqua/cobalt blues, yellow/orange, magenta
-Learn/practice to elegantly cross-process
-Get more accessories/props (jewelry and hairpieces, especially!)
-Floaty ethereal imagry, both near-monochrome and using pale pinks/coppers
-Get over the fear of grain/blownout highlights/detail lost in black. Learn to use these "no-no's" well.
-headshots
-Make a beauty dish
-More shiny latex/vinyl stuff! Will be working with Ego Assassin Latex in August, but hope to do more sooner...

Clothes for sale!
My measurements are 35" bust, 25" waist, 36" hips, and so that's about the size all these clothes fit- if you want more exact measurement for an outfit, just ask and I'll whip out the measuring tape. No defects that I could find on any of these
PlastiK Wrap Trinidy Dress [link] : $120Black fabric w/black matte pvc accents. Worn 5x total, and 3 of those were for shoots (my shoulders are too wide to fit comfortably- would fit someone a bit more petite than me well).
Retroscope Fashion's Victorian Aristocrat Capelet & Blouse in white [link] : $50As adorable and elegant as this is, I have come to terms with the fact that caplet+wide shoulders=me looking like a grumpy frosted muffin. Worn only for the Child Bride shoot, and has been languishing on my clothes rack ever since
Shrine black pvc Opretta skirt [link] : $55Made of *super* thick pvc, in a size large. I figured a size large would sit low on my hips instead of on my waist, but nope- it's too big and slides right off. Shrine's sizing chart says it'll fit up to a 31" waist/ 42" hips.
Custom made pvc neck corset [link] : $50Made for my 11.5" neck, but the back laces are stretchy and so will fit larger sizes easily.
Send me a note if you're interested in any of these!
