These last few months have been busyyyyy, the next few months are looking to be busyyyyyyyyy, and I doubt I'll have any downtime until February
My studio is up and operational, if not entirely spiffified and finished yet. But oy, I'm just glad I've got the space to work with now! And it's *all mine*, not some rental deal, so I can customize it and build quasi-permanent sets.

As for the immediate future, in addition to a bunch of super-awesome shoots in the works, I'm going to be in *3* exhibitions/shows early next year. On one hand, I'm excited about everything that's coming up, but I already know I'll end up over-extending myself. If I suddenly disappear off the internet, it's because I'm DEAD. Suffocated from not having time to breathe. Guuuuhhh. Anyway, here's what's happing with the exhibitions:

1. The first one, in early January, is a mini-showing at the You&I Gallery in Kennewick, WA. It's primarily a teaser, and I'll be doing a full-scale show there next summer.
2. I've been invited to be a part of the "Fashion and Fiction" exhibition at Linfield College, February 9 through March 26th. The show is an art exhibition based on the intersection of fashion and fiction in contemporary photography, and I'm honored to be included in it.
3. This year I'll be a "Visiting Professional" at Radcon, a large sci-fi and fantasy convention in Pasco, WA, taking place Feb 12th-14th. Framed prints of my work will be for sale in the art show there, and in honor of the fact that I've always had a soft spot for this convention, they'll be SEVERELY discounted from the normal price. If you're planning to attend and there's any particular pieces you'd like to see, do speak up
I'll also be acting as a model for an art panel there on the 13th, and wandering around the con the rest of the weekend, so come on by and say Hi!

The last month has been a whirlwind of big (non-photographic) events happening in my life. Mainly centering around two things:
1. going through the process of buying a house, and
2. finding that legally it'd be advantageous to be married to my love before purchasing said house together. So, we had a shotgun wedding a week and a half ago! I'm officially off the market, lmao (tho truly that's been the case since I was 16). Granted, we were planning to marry this winter, so this isn't totally out of the blue, and we still intend to hold a celebration on the day originally planned for.

More on the house: our offer for it has been accepted, and now it's just a matter of filing mortgage paperwork. It's basically ours, and we'll be moving into it Sept. 30th. I am incredibly excited about having our own place. The house itself is small -only 650 sq. feet-but, the yard is large, and, most importantly, there is a HUUUUUGE garage in the back. Seriously, this thing is bigger than the house, and fully insulated with power and heating and high ceilings. Know what this means? STUDIO!!!! FUCK YEAH!!! No more space restrictions!!!
I'm not going to be shooting as much until after we're settled into the new place, but once we are, whooo boy. No watcher's inbox will be safe

I feel like the universe is conspiring against me. All sorts of factors come together to make it NIGH IMPOSSIBLE for me to shoot.


1. Time constraints: the dayjob keeps calling me in to cover other slackers' peoples' shifts, leaving me precious few blocks of open time.

2. Environmental factors:
A. I live in a basement due to the cheap rent, but, it's cramped with low ceilings and no natural light. Does this sound like a prime spot for an impromptu studio? I THINK NOT.
B. I've used all the good shooting locations in my area up, and don't like to repeat. What's left is trees/greenery, and those are infested with mosquitoes. I miss Seattle.
C. It's been HOTTTTT here. I like to shoot ensembles that involve layers of frills. Yeah, that's an awesome combination all right. There is no air-conditioning.

3. The fairies have taken to stealing vital small pieces of equipment. I got myself all ready to do a self-portraiture shoot yesterday, and realize, 1/2 of my remote trigger and tripod anchor are nowhere to be found. I very nearly cried. They still have not resurfaced, despite ransacking through my place.

4. #3 would not be a problem if I were shooting another model. There are no models that inspire me here (with the exception of ~Rhinofeeder. But I can't be harassing her all the time.)


This all is making me very depressed.

... to get me off my ass, away from the addictive Diablo II, and out photographing more sets. I haven't been shooting as much as I should lately. I'm going to set a goal of shooting something new each week, barring the dayjob eating all my time (in that case, at least one set every 2 weeks).
