Pending Projects

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 9, 2007, 2:03 PM
  • Listening to: Tristania- 'World of Glass'
Courtesan
Warm/romantic lighting but mood a mixture of seductive and sinister. Elizabethan slant to the wardrobe/styling, and a set suitably opulent and baroque ornate. Colors: white creams, golds, blacks.
Pending Wardrobe: commissioned organdy/satin elizabethan shrug, hair circlet

Neo-Tokyo
Lost in the speeding neon city night. Burning, blurred lighting: warped colors with tungsten, florescent, and other tones

Anguissette
The purity of physical pain mingled with the sublety and sensuous nature of desire. Lash marks visible through the gaps in the garments.

Chaste
Yearning trapped in stillness. White garb and birdcages

Our Second Hearts
Vulnerable and introspective. Based on this passage from the Dogs of Babel: "'I dreamed they cut me open and found I had two hearts. The second one was small, and it was a different color. It was hidden underneath the main heart, so they didn't see it at first. I was very surprised when they told me about it, but the doctor said it was completely normal. He said that most people have two hearts, we just never know it.'
It's true isn't it, that each of us has two hearts? The secret heart, curled up behind a fist, living gnarled and shrunken beneath the plain, open one we use every day... It's not the content of our dreams that gives our second heart its dark color; it's the thoughts that go through our heads in those wakeful moments when sleep won't come. And those are the things we never tell anyone at all."

Le Petit Appetit
Glamour a la french decadence. Baby blues, creams, black. Polonaise jacket (either a black Kambriel design or a custom made blue/gold), nude stockings attached via garter belt. Pale pink lips, smokey wicked eyes, curled hair. Sultry poses atop a table laid with cakes and other delectables.

The Bright Court
Seelie: light and illusion. Appleblossoms undercut with politic eyes. High key lighting, meadow/nature setting with pale blooms, white/green/gold colors cheme with possible red accents. Doll lips, accented pale shimmery makeup.

Oh Valerian Bitter
Refuge in the worlds of sleep. Bruised brown/mauve eyes and lips, a pallor to the skin, slumber buried in rushes and dead flowers.

The Paper Roses of Mlle Colette
A surreal fashion set. Retroscope garmets worn amidst misted, stark roses with the branches turned black and the flowers manip-ed to b&w with a nod to Beardsley.

Joie
Effervescent shine. Glowing silvers, whites, pale blues. Artifice attire.

Bete Noire
The grime of the soul: ennui, schadenfreude, self-loathing. Smudged dark makeup, ragged attire, grungy-sparse setting.

Saturniidae
The wings of moths. Muted colors, shadowy atmosphere, headshot format.
Will raise a cecropia moth pupae and shoot with it when all 6 inches of its glorious wingspan emerges.

***

A running tally, obviously, of the most formulated of the many sets I want to do. This'll be amended as collaborator openings are spoken for, dates set, and material amassed.
When a concept is totally in the clear, and the details concrete as possible, the shoot date will be posted in the front journal.

Oh the "Vile Intangibles" idea.. I do like it.
Although like you noted, I don't know how we would go about on the styling for it....

the work of *jesiel came to mind as inspiration....

I like that second one (I've not seen her stuff before).
I honestly hadn't formulated this idea as far as the rest posted up here, but when I find examples of elements I was thinking of, I'll link you.

Here's a good example of the shadows I was thinking: [link]

It is through art, and through art only, that we can realize our perfection; through art and art only that we can shield ourselves from the sordid perils of actual existence.

ahh okay... well I can try and rig the lighting to lay on you like that.. it'll probably take some experimenting.
